Fresh snow and Sunshine.

9th April 2016

There was a some overnight snow above about 700 metres. During the day the sun came out, to give a fine spring day. Some evidence of sunballs and sluffing in the new snow, particularly where it caught the sun. Also evident was the cornice debris that came down a few days ago (noted in yesterday’s blog). Still plenty of sections of unstable looking cornice remaining.

Debris from a recent cornice collapse. This probably occurred a few days ago.

Sun balls and sluffing of the fresh snow on a South-Easterly aspect.

Still feeling pretty wintry high up. Looking over to Stob Ghabhar.

Overnight there was a uniform covering of about 10cm of soft fresh snow at higher levels.
