Cloudy but Dry.

22nd March 2018

It was a cloudy but generally dry day in Glen Coe. The freezing level was around the summits, and the snowpack was continuing to settle and consolidate.

Poor visibility at higher levels.

The temperature was very slightly below freezing on some of the higher summits. A very clear layer of rime ice was building up on various object such as the cable of my avalanche probe.

Rime building up on grass. However, it was not forming on the surrounding rock (even rocks in exposed positions) as they were presumably they were very slightly warmer due to residual warmth.
