Snow then rain

16th December 2020

Covid-19

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service would recommend that those wishing to enjoy the winter mountains refer to Mountaineering Scotland and Scottish Government advice regarding Covid-19 and outdoor activities.

There was some snow overnight mainly above around 900 metres but this turned to rain during the morning. The photos below make conditions look very black but above 900m there was some fresh snow. Unfortunately being in the cloud at this height meant no good photos. The strong South-Easterly winds don’t show up in the photos either.

Wet snow at 900 metres on Meall a’ Bhuiridh. It was still wet snow at the summit but there was more of it.
