Mild and Wet for the last day of the year….

Dank and mild, fairly wet first thing this morning with poor visibility the South-Westerly winds eased through the day. Not the best of days to end 2021 but quite a few folks were out and about in the hills, ‘happy new year’ to you all.

Meall a’ Bhuiridh with its patchy snow cover, plenty of sledger’s were out enjoying the machine made snow.

Looking into Stob Coire nam Beith.

Forecast: The freezing level will remain well above all summits in this area, continuing to produce mild conditions. Rain at all levels will allow the thaw to continue, this will be aided by very strong Southerly winds.

Forecast Snow Stability and Hazard: Snowpack will remain moist and generally well bonded at all levels. The patchy snowpack will be present in wind sheltered places, primarily coire rims, gully exits, mainly on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
