Bluebird Day

19th February 2022

A very fine winter’s day; cold and dry with light winds, and snow down to glen level.

Instabilities persist within windslab on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. There was an icy crust in wind exposed locations where yesterday’s strong winds had stripped all the new soft snow away.

A period of high instability is expected overnight, with heavy precipitation, falling as snow only on the highest summits, then later a return to colder temperatures.

Sadly the views aren’t expected to be quite the same tomorrow.

Avalanche debris on North-East aspect on Clach Leathad, mostly likely occurred yesterday.
