Best views in the Glen?

27th March 2022

For a bit of a change of scene I headed up Beinn a Chrulaiste. Although not particularly high, this hill has some of the best views in the Glen Coe. It was feeling very summery up there, warm and dry.

Buachaille Etive Mor

Looking down Glen Coe. Still as fair bit of snow on Bidean nam Bian.

Meall a Bhuiridh and Creise.

Looking North over the Black Water Reservoir to the Mamores and Nevis hills behind. The history of the reservoir is quite interesting, did you know that Kinlochleven the first village in the world to have every house connected to electricity.  There is a great semi-autobiographical book called Children of the Dead End about an Irish navvy who gets work helping to build the dam and associated infrastructure.

Significant amphibian activity in a pool at about 600 metres. There was a lot of croaking going on!

More amphibians!
