Milder and Sunshine

18th March 2022

Today was a dry sunny day. The freezing level started around 700 metres early morning and rose above all summits by midday.

Most of the snowpack has consolidated after yesterdays snow and rain and has developed an icy crust. Localised deposits of moderately bonded windslab exist mainly high on North-Easterly aspects and are consolidating in the milder temperatures.

High pressure is expected to dominate for the next few days giving warm and sunny conditions and a gradual thaw of the snowpack.
