A clear sunny day

20th January 2023

Today was the day to be out. Blue skies, sunshine, cold temperatures and some good views. Weaknesses continue to persist in windslab accumulations, particularly where the very firm windslab overlies a weaker cold induced layer. Fragile cornices have developed and these will be prone to collapse in the milder temperatures tomorrow and may trigger the slopes below. Milder temperatures with patchy rain for a few days now.

Looking up the ridge towards Creise from Meall a Bhuiridh. Avalanche debris and a crown wall visible on the left of the ridge. This is most likely caused by cornice collapse, triggering the surface layers during the stormy weather yesterday.

Plenty of cornices looking along the ridge from Creise to Clach Leathad. These will be prone to collapse in the milder weather tomorrow.
