Clearer than expected.

8th January 2023

Today was very windy but unexpectedly dry. There were a few showers with very strong winds overnight, today was a dry day and at the time of writing there is still no fresh snow. I headed in to the lost valley to gain shelter from the very strong South-westerly winds. The existing snowpack is continuing to consolidate and start to refreeze at high altitudes, lower down a gradual thaw continues. Snow showers are expected this evening and through tomorrow with the formation of fresh unstable windslab in sheltered locations.
