Overnight snow and windy

1st February 2023

Strong to gale force winds affected the area overnight with snow falling above 500 metres, unstable windslab exists in sheltered gullies and steep NE-SE slopes at higher levels. Windward slopes are generally scoured and are icy in places with good stability.

Outlook is mild wet and windy overnight and on Thursday, expect wet snow instabilities mainly where deep windslab exists and additional hazard of falling rocks and ice as the thaw progresses.
