Further into the Mountains

6th January 2024

A lovely day for getting further into the mountains, dry throughout with light westerly winds. Cloud persisted around the higher mountain summits with the freezing level remaining around 850 metres. The stable snowpack started to refreeze overnight, forming a breakable crust which made progress hard work on foot.

With high pressure continuing into next week, colder, drier and sunny weather can be expected.

A dusting of new snow overnight on the Aonach Eagach Ridge illuminated with morning sunshine.
