More great weather

10th January 2024

It was another dry day with light to moderate winds. Cold at all elevations but slightly less cold than yesterday.

No significant change in the snowpack. Mostly very firm with a thin layer of soft snow at higher elevations. There is some faceting happening in this soft layer; not currently a problem but would be a weakness if covered by further snow at some point. Surface hoar is also widespread an growing bigger; as with the faceting this could also be a weak layer if covered with further snow. There are icy paths even at low elevations.

Some pictures below from around Glencoe.
