Murky

25th January 2024

It was a cloudy and damp day in Glen Coe today. Due to a combination of the cloud and the shape of the Glen, from the road you can’t see a great deal of snow. However, when you get up into the higher coires, there is still a reasonable amount. Unfortunately it was thawing at all levels today. A short but welcome return to more wintery conditions tomorrow before turning milder after that.

Damp and murky (or atmospheric if you wanted to put a more positive slat on it). Either way you could not see a great deal from the floor of the glen.

Meall a’ Bhuiridh. Still a reasonable amount of snow above about 750 metres.

Up at 1100 metres at the rocks and snow surface was quite icy. It was melting today in the mild temperatures, but what survives the thaw will turn very hard and icy overnight at the freezing level drops.
