Calmer and dry with occasional sunshine.

8th April 2024

Calmer conditions today with occasional sunshine made a fine change from the very strong winds of late. Some rain and sleet last night gave way to dry conditions today, the freezing level is above the summits.

Outlook is for strengthening generally North-Westerly winds with some new snow mainly overnight. Windslab will form in wind sheltered locations but many of these areas will be bare ground, where accumulations form on older snow bonding will be poor but most of these areas should be avoidable. See Avalanche Report for more details.

Rannoch Moor from Meall a Bhuiridh.

East Ridge of Meall a Bhuiridh.

Looking generally Westerly towards Glen Coe, Stob Dearg, Buachaille Etive Mor far left.

Stob Coire nan Lochan.
