Cold start with temperature inversion….

The ground is frozen hard covered with a frost at all levels, under foot conditions are icy in many places. Today was dry, calm and bright with good visibility. The temperature inversion gave plus 4 degrees Celsius  at 1000 metres whilst minus 3 degrees celsius at 350 metres.

Icy underfoot conditions.

Ski tourer’s enjoying lower snow cover on Creag Dhubh 749 metres. A lot of the lower slopes have better snow cover because very strong winds have scoured the upper slopes.
