More mild, wet weather continues to affect the area.

17th December 2024

Wet and mild conditions have continued to affect the area. South-South-Westerly winds were strong to gale force at times. The freezing level was above the summits.

Some better weather expected tomorrow with some new snow. The new snow amounts are not expected to be significant mostly a very light dusting above 600 metres. Some very shallow windslab may develop on North-East to South-Easterly above 900 metres. These new deposits are not expected to be deep or extensive. Elsewhere the wet snow areas will start to refreeze being generally well bonded in most places.
