Wild, wet and windy today….. But see 10 years ago on this same day!

29th December 2024

It was decidedly dreich, blowing a hoolie as they say. The freezing level remained above all the summits with rain accompanied by strong to gale force South-Westerly winds. Where ever you looked rain water was pouring off the hillsides but nice to see some wild life out.

Another blustery day tomorrow with rain forecast for the first part of the day then winds easing and getting cooler. Any new snow that arrives will fall mostly on bare, moist ground and is not likely to be deep or extensive.

Northerly aspect of Meall a’ Bhuiridh, note the burns in spate.

Gearr Aonach and Aonach Dubh with water flowing out of Stob Coire nan Lochan.

Beinn Fhada on the left with Gearr Aonach on the right, again water running off Beinn Fhada.

Murky Glencoe.

Some walkers enjoying a walk.

Looking up towards the Aonach Eagach ridge.

The Pap of Glencoe on the left with Sgorr nam Fiannaidh on the right.

Not one but 3 big buzzards enjoying the strong winds.

Ten years on this very same day on December 29th 2014.

The Aonach Eagach ridge 29/12/2014.

Buachaille Etive Beag and the Glencoe hills beyond 29/12/2014.
