Explored South

16th January 2025

Dry and generally clear today with variable cloud cover over the summits, moderate to fresh South-Westerly winds, a little stronger at higher elevations. The freezing level remained above the summits, though slightly cooler than yesterday. The isolated snow patches that remain at higher elevations continue to diminish and deplete.

Explored some of the less frequented places in the Glencoe forecast area, today to the South down Glen Etive. Brighter conditions and breaks in the cloud giving views of the Southern aspects of Bidean nam Bian, the far end of Buachaille Etive Mor and further South over the glens and multitude of summits of Glen Etive.

The South-Westerly airflow continues into tomorrow with some light rain overnight and during the afternoon. Higher up there will be strong or very strong winds from the South with the freezing level still the summits throughout. Dryer Saturday into Sunday when the freezing level is expected to drop just below the summits.
