Remaining Cold

5th January 2025

Just a beautiful day to be out in the hills with cold, clear conditions and only light North-Easterly winds. The snow level is around 400 metres on all aspects, though really is quite shallow except for some accumulations on coire rims and gully tops. Stability is generally good. Paths are icy.

Continuing mainly dry except for a period of snow tonight. Notably the winds are going to become more Northerly  and increase, becoming strong or very strong. So whilst a minimal amount of new snow can be expected, redistributed wind blown snow will likely have the greater affect, though as the existing snowpack is limited, it is thought that only isolated areas of unstable windslab may form, again around coire rims and gully tops. As always, please see the full forecast for details.

Expected to continue cold and unsettled for a few days.
