Winter returns….

25th January 2025

Overnight, and through today quite heavy snow showers fell to lower levels. The snow is mainly lying above 280 metres with some deeper drifts above 700 metres. The winds were generally strong, South-South-Westerly and the freezing level was around 400 metres.

Looking down through Glencoe this morning snow lying on the road at this level (300 metres). The 3 Sister’s of Glencoe on the left.

Gearr Aonach and Aonach Dubh with Stob Coire nan Lochan in the middle obscured by clouds and mist, but this shows the snowline quite clearly.

Another shot showing the snowline on Meall Mor 676 metres.

Westerly aspect of Aonach Dubh, note the wind blowing snow around and into sheltered gullies.

The Aonach Eagach ridge.

Skiing this morning at Glencoe Mountain at 360 metres car park level.

Snow cover and depth is variable, often scoured and shallow but also deeper drifts exist in many sheltered locations.

A view from 780 metres looking down through the ski area, looking promising for skiing soon.
