Coire Gabhail / The Lost Valley

15th February 2025

There was a trace of some overnight snow in Glencoe today but nothing significant from an avalanche point of view. Today was a little milder and less windy than recent days but unfortunately also a lot cloudier so views were limited. Little change in the snowpack which is generaly stable although there are some weaknesses caused by faceting below the surface crusts.

Photos below from Coire Gabhail, or as it’s probably better known The Lost Valley.

Looking into the Lost Valley. There was a trace of overnight snow. The older snow is mostly hidden by the low cloud.

Ice formations. Still a lot of running water here.

The cloud lifted a bit as I was heading down to give a glimpse of the top of the Lost Valley.
