Chilly but dry and calm…..

13th March 2025

It was quite chilly today, the Northerly winds had quite a bite to them, it was dry and quite calm with good visibility. The continuing cool conditions have maintained a dusting of snow which arrived on Tuesday lying mainly above 900 metres. These conditions have also kept the old patchy snow cover refrozen, firm and icy in places. Ice has also formed in water courses and on some paths.

The overnight cold conditions have started ice formations in water courses and on some paths.

Icy has formed on some paths above 600 metres.

Meall a’ Bhuiridh still holds the most snow patches in the Glencoe area. The large white area, lower left is man made snow, where today children from the local primary school are having ski instruction.

The spring refrozen, firm, icy snowpack; note the dirt, dust and particles of grass indicating this snow almost certainly arrived with strong winds.
