Chilly but dry and calm…..
13th March 2025
It was quite chilly today, the Northerly winds had quite a bite to them, it was dry and quite calm with good visibility. The continuing cool conditions have maintained a dusting of snow which arrived on Tuesday lying mainly above 900 metres. These conditions have also kept the old patchy snow cover refrozen, firm and icy in places. Ice has also formed in water courses and on some paths.

Looking across the Rannoch Moor with the Blackwater Reservoir the longer stretch of water with the Ben Alder snow capped peaks beyond.

Meall a’ Bhuiridh still holds the most snow patches in the Glencoe area. The large white area, lower left is man made snow, where today children from the local primary school are having ski instruction.

Meall a’ Bhuiridh on the left, Clach Leathad just visible in the distance centre with the summit of Creise on the right.

The spring refrozen, firm, icy snowpack; note the dirt, dust and particles of grass indicating this snow almost certainly arrived with strong winds.
