Views of the snow

30th March 2025

After a cloudy start with strong North-Westerly winds the day slowly improved. The clouds gradually  lifted and towards the afternoon the sun arrived, wind speeds decreased and the freezing level rose well above the highest summits. This gave an opportunity to look at the snow after the recent snowfall. The snow is generally wet and thawing, with greatest amounts on North to East aspects above 900 metres, although in most locations the cover is thin. An overcast day tomorrow (Monday) before high pressure brings mild and sunny conditions from Tuesday.
