Cold and calm……

29th December 2025

A calm, dry day but with more cloud cover. Minus 5 Celsius this morning at sea level and minus 1.1 celsius at 850 metres around midday so we still have inversion conditions affecting the area. Winds backed slightly and were very light from North-Easterly direction.

The frosty conditions at valley level with Stob Coire nan Lochan (cloud over its summit) and West top of Bidean nam Bian on it right.

Black Rock cottage with Buachaille Etive More behind, slightly more clouds today.

The 3 Sisters of Glen Coe.

Being Fhada on the left with the head of Coire Gabhail (Lost Valley) showing some remaining snow patches, Gearr Aonach on the right.

Areas of water icy are continuing to grow on paths and hillsides.

Water courses and streams are also becoming more established.

Contrasting colours of frosted heather and iced over lochan with green moss under the ice.

North-Easterly aspect of Meall a’ Bhuiridh.

Needle ice particles.
