Fantastic skies in Glen Coe
20th January 2026
After the fantastic Northern Lights last night the weather returned to repeat it self similar to the past few days with poor visibility in the morning then clearer and brighter spells in the afternoon. The freezing level was around 1100 metres, winds were moderate in strength form a South-Easterly direction. Some early morning precipitation fell as a light dusting of snow over the higher summits otherwise a mainly dry day.
Yesterday evening the sky was glowing. The Pap of Glencoe and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh behind the lights of Glencoe village. Photo courtesy of Stuart Sorbie many thanks Stuart.
Much brighter conditions this afternoon looking into Lairig Eilde with Sron na Lairig and Stob Coire Sgreamhach at the head of the glen.
We don’t get to see these often so here’s another great example courtesy of Lewis Harrop, thanks Lewis .
