A dry clear day
2nd March 2026
For most of today conditions were very pleasant, the overnight rain cleared to give a dry day with some good views, rain only returning towards the end of the afternoon. As the overnight rain cleared the temperature dropped and the snowpack is now very firm. As the end of day rain came in the freezing level rose to around the highest summits and precipitation was rain at all levels. Rain is due to continue into the night turning to snow as its clears and the freezing level falls, leaving a dusting of new snow. The existing snowpack is expected to remain very firm with the potential for serious consequences in the event of a trip or slip.
