Dry and Bright
9th March 2026
A relatively dry and bright day in Glencoe after some showers in the first part of the morning. The snow was very firm at higher elevations, softening below 850 metres.
Northerly facing coires continue to hold snow well despite the absence of snow at lower elevations in the glen. Icy patches remain with consequential run outs into bare ground, or exposed rocks and boulders on some crag aprons.
A fleeting view into Coire Gabhail (aka the Lost Valley), again holding snow despite the spring like feel at glen level.
Stob Coire nam Beith. The continual line of snow just to the right of the summit is Summit Gully (I/II), one of the longest routes in the glen at 450 metres.
Clach Leathad and the ridge of Sron nam Forsair taken from the summit of Meall a’Bhuiridh. Cornices were still present in this location and may be visible in this image.
