Dry and Bright with Sunshine

22nd March 2026

Initially overcast and cloudy, brightening up with longer periods of sunshine during the afternoon. Moderate Westerly winds, zero degrees Celsius at 1100 metres.

With the freezing level above the summits overnight the snowpack has continued to soften and thaw at all elevations. On a steeper North-East aspect the soft wet snow was easily ‘sluffing’ under skis on deeper firmer layers.

Colder temperatures tonight will begin to refreeze the wet snowpack, forming a crust at higher elevations. During the afternoon there will be a period of new snow but amounts are expected to be limited before the temperature rises above the summits, turning to rain and a period of thawing at all elevations.

More rain is expected Monday night before temperatures lower again with showery wintery conditions.
