The snowpack remains very firm despite rain at all elevations.

5th March 2026

The freezing level has been above the summits for nearly 24 hours it has gradually lowered this morning to be zero degrees at 1100 metres around midday. Rain at all levels through this morning accompanied by moderate to fresh Westerly winds.

Rivulets of rain and snow melt running down the north face of Aonach Dubh this occurs during mild conditions particularly when snow is rapidly thawing.
