Very windy with new snow on the higher slopes

11th March 2026

New snow on the higher tops has given more of a wintry feel than of late. Strong winds overnight and today have scoured exposed slopes giving a firm and in places an unforgiving icy surface. New snow and drifting onto lee slopes has formed localised areas of windslab particularly in summit gullies. The stormy conditions will continue overnight with more snow and strong winds. Check report for more details.
