New snow and sunshine…

14th March 2025

The mountains were white again this morning after last nights light snow showers which fell down to around 350 metres. This morning the clouds soon dissipated and the sun shone to give a bright, clear, dry day. The winds were generally quite light from a North-Easterly direction. The new snow was quickly affected by solar radiation and started to thaw particularly at lower elevations.

Taken at around 780 metres on Meall a’ Bhuiridh at midday.  Earlier this morning most of the ground in this photo was white with a dusting of new snow, see below! Ben Nevis still looking white in the distance.

The power of the sun and radiation.

All the photos below were taken before midday before much of the new snow dissipated. Tomorrow there will be even less snow cover below 800 metres as the freezing level rises and warmer conditions have effect.
