Stob Coire nan Lochan

Today’s observations were from Stob Coire nan Lochan. There were some views this morning before showers become heavier and more frequent during the afternoon. Showers were initially rain below around 900 metres, alternating between rain and wet snow at higher elevations. During the afternoon the temperature dropped and the showers turned to snow at slightly lower elevations.

Showers throughout the forecast period are forecast to be snow above around 950 metres intially with the freezing level rising during the day. Stong South-Westerly winds will continue.

Looking at West facing slopes high on the Beinn Fhada ridge

 

The South facing slopes of the Aonach Eagach, it is likely there will be significantly more snow remaining on the North side of the ridge.

 

River levels are high as thaw conditions continue.
