Low Cloud with Occasional Drizzle

21st March 2026

Generally dry today with low cloud and light winds, some brief periods of drizzle. Thawing at all elevations though with colder temperatures last night the snow surface at higher elevations felt firmer with a slower rate of thawing. Stability is good.

A period of rain and wet snow at higher elevations overnight but amounts will be very small. The existing snowpack will continue to thaw and consolidate. Dryer through the day with the freezing level lowering to around 800 metres, beginning to refreeze the snow surface.

Start of day conditions continued, not great for snowy photos. Stob Coire nan Lochan up towards Bidean nam Bian with the remaining snow in Coire nam Beith.

Stob Coire nam Beith and Coire nam Beitheach.

A glimpse along Lairig Eilde towards Stob Dubh, Buachaille Etive Beag.

The lower slopes of the ski area on Meall a Bhuiridh.

Typical of the larger areas of remaining snow at higher elevations. North-East aspect on Meall a Bhuiridh, 900 metres elevation.

Only glimpses into Coire na Tulaich, Buachaille Etive Mor.
