Windy and Cloudy
9th January 2018
It was a windy and cloudy day in Glen Coe today. It was also a bit milder than of late, with a freezing level of around 700 metres. Some patches of unstable windslab were observed.
The West face of Aonach Dubh with Stob Coire nam Beith and Church Door buttress behind this morning when there was still a bit of visibility at higher levels.Â
Some of the paths are slightly on the slippery side.Â
The view for most of the time I was on the hill was like this. The little black dot in the middle of the shot is a shrew which provided entertainment by running around on the snow surface before eventually disappearing down a hole by the rock to it’s left.Â
It did try and clear for a short period, but this was as good as it got.Â
There is still a weak layer within the snowpack, with the fresh windslab cracking and shearing easily.Â
