Snowy Grey
21st January 2019
The strong Southerly winds and cold temperatures made it feel quite a cold on the hill today. Only light snow flurries fell during the early part of today, more snow is forecast to arrive later this afternoon but at the time of this report it hadn’t arrived but the sky looked full of snow. Summit temperature was around minus three degrees Celsius. Because of the lower temperatures any new snow arriving with the strong winds is likely to be scoured and lie at lower elevations. Pockets of shallow windslab will also form in sheltered locations and hollows mostly on North to South-Easterly aspects above 900 metres.
Ice still continuing to form in the colder temperatures
