Curtain closing
22nd April 2017
This is the last blog for this season we will return in December, so thanks for reading reports and blogs. Conditions today were very similar to yesterday and remaining snow areas are firm and well bonded and limited in extent please see photo’s today and yesterday. The temperature at 1100 metres at mid-day was minus 3.3 degrees celsius with light to fresh North-Westerly winds.
General situation forecast for tonight and tomorrow. |
||
The cold North-Westerly airflow will be replaced by a milder Westerly aiflow later tonight and on Sunday. Thicker cloud in the West will produce light showers which will be mostly of rain, perhaps sleet on the tops. An area of low pressure will pass close to Shetland later on Sunday and this will be responsible for strengthening winds during Sunday afternoon and evening. These winds veering Northerly by Monday morning as low pressure moves off into Norway. This will bring a few days of very cold, Arctic air down across Scotland with frequent showers turning to snow at most levels.
