Another cold start to the day with firm and icy snow in many locations, and some verglas on the path. The snow surface softened slowly where exposed to the sun at high elevations, but in the North facing coires the snow remained firm and consequential in the event of an uncontrolled slide.
Little change is expected tomorrow in terms of stability with a predominately well bonded and stable spring snowpack. The freezing level will lie above the summits for the next forecast period resulting in a softening of the snow surface on all aspects and elevations. Winds will be moderate to fresh with slowly thawing conditions.
