Unstable Cornices

Another fine day with dry sunny conditions. Cornices are still present on North through to South-East aspects and with these warm conditions they are sagging, unstable and prone to collapse affecting the slopes below. They often travel along way down the slopes, even easy angled slopes, caution is required when planning routes near or underneath them.

Clach Leathad 1109 metres the right hand, sun lit side faces East the centre North-East four cornices have naturally collapsed.

this shows 3 of the bigger collapses, there is another large collapse to the right, out of shot.
