Simply Stunning

27th February 2016

It was a stunning day in Glen Coe today. It was good to see the lots of people out on the hill enjoying the conditions.

Some substantial cornices exist. A couple of people can be seen climbing the ridge on the right, and give an idea of scale.

IMGP0148

Low snow surface temperatures in the shade. In these sort of the conditions the snow surface can easily be lower than the minimum overnight air temperature due to radiative cooling.

Looking North West from Meall a Bhuiridh. An avalanche crown wall can be seen at the top of the bowl in the foreground.

A snowy Creise with Ben Nevis visible in the background.

Plenty of snowy hills down to the South West.
