The wettest day of the year so far?

1st April 2016

It was a wet day today, in fact I think that for me personally it was a good contender for the wettest day of the year so far. At higher levels there had been a fair bit of fresh snow overnight and through the morning. There is definitely the potential for both cornice collapse and avalanche during the afternoon as the temperature rises and the snowpack begins to thaw.

Looking up towards Stob Coire nan Lochan this morning.

IMGP0040

The view from about 700 metres. Starting to get into the fresh wet snow.

IMGP0044

Looking along to Stob Dubh from point 902. Although not obvious in the picture it was definitely snowing at this level.

IMGP0042

Fresh snow stuck to rock and then slowly melting at an altitude of around 800 metres. It would also stick to myself, and slowly melt.
