Another day of thaw

Variable conditions in Glen Coe today. Â Drizzle in the areas of hill fog but but some pleasant sunshine out of the mist.

The remains of the more recent (whiter) snow which remains in the cleft below the rocks – the rest was scoured clear of the older snow on this North-East facing slope by the North-Westerly wind.

The temperature gradient in the snowpack had allowed this graupel layer to survive at 30cms depth. Moderate/firm pressure required to shear this layer.
