A beautiful winters day

14th February 2017

A glorious day in Glen Coe!  The hills in the West end of the glen were alpine like when passing, driving up to Meall a Bhuiridh, which was covered by a sheen of thin cloud.  This largely cleared through the morning giving a wonderful day for skiers enjoying the lower runs and wonderful conditions on the summit.  The Southern Highlands were also covered by this unusual fine cloud which must be a result of the temperature inversion conditions.

Meall a Bhuiridh covered by fine hazy cloud

Still plenty of cracking to be seen in the snowpack which remains very cold and dry

Looking West towards the Clach Leathad/Creise ridge

Looking South-East – Ben Lomond obscured by the haze

Ski signs still growing rime ice – the sky had cleared by noon

The summit buttresses of the Buachaille with an impressive cloud cap
