Mild conditions.

16th February 2017

The freezing level was above the summits and precipitation fell mostly as rain there was some sleet over the summits earlier in the morning. The winds were strong from the South-Westerly direction. The snowpack is thawing at all elevations and wet snow instabilities were present on many steep slopes with a West though North to East aspect mostly above 850 metres. Elsewhere the snowpack is thawing and generally stable but diminishing at lower levels. The avalanche hazard was Moderate.
