Sunny Spells

6th March 2017

Good to see them skiing at the top of Meall a Bhuiridh at last.  The picture below belies the true amount of snow – generally fairly shallow although some deeper sheltered drifts which fractured showing clear layering.  Below 850 metres the snowpack was feeling quite ‘sticky’ but higher up there was a light covering of fresh snow due to the showers and wind transported snow.

Sun catching the tops of both the ‘Flypaper’ and ‘Spring Run’ ski runs on the N.E. to E. flank of Meall a Bhuiridh – the snow pit was done on the North flank of the Spring Run today

Looking down the South face of Meall a Bhuiridh from the summit – light snow cover with areas of turf barely hidden

A rainbow with Kingshouse in the distance seen at lunchtime from the access chair at the ski centre.

The brooding, turreted bulk of the S.E. flank of Stob Dearg (The Buachaille)
