Frosty start to the day…

18th December 2021

Colder than of late with some light frost in the lower glens particularly above 350 metres also some verglas on approach paths. It was a lovely calm sunny day with many folks out enjoying the hills with nearly all the car parks full.

Stob Coire nan Lochan slowly loosing it snow.

Stob Dearg and Coire Tuliach nearly void of snow.

Forecast: High pressure will continuing to dominate, giving dry conditions with a strong low level temperature inversion. The South-Westerly winds will veer to a more Northerly direction and remain light. Freezing level will remain above the summits.

Little change is expected to the snowpack it will remain generally soft and moist and well bonded in most locations. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
