Cloudy in Glencoe today

24th December 2022

Cloudy on the tops all day in Glencoe today. After overnight snowfall the freezing level gradually rose to just above the highest summits. Fresh windslab accumulations that had developed overnight were gradually consolidating in the warmer temperatures. The snowpack will continue to consolidate overnight and through tomorrow and begin to refreeze as the temperature starts to drop tomorrow. Looking much colder for Boxing Day. Have a good Christmas.

As good as views got from the summit of Meall a Bhuridh today. The small south facing crags were rimed, although when I was here at around midday, the freezing level was just above the summit and any light showers had turned to rain.

Looking back up at the ski area. The covering of soft fresh snow was beginning to thaw. The old snowpack underneath is still very firm.
