Fresh snow

26th December 2022

There was fresh snow to low levels today. Strong winds high up and cold temperatures meant a lot of drifting snow. Fresh unstable windslab was building rapidly throughout the day. A small natural avalanche was observed in the haggis trap area of the ski centre (see pictures below). Drifting snow is due to continue through the night. Around late morning there will be a rapid rise in temperature causing a further decrease in stability. More cold weather forecast to follow for Wednesday and Thursday.
