Fresh snow and strong winds.

9th February 2023

Overnight snow showers became more scattered during the day today and the clouds lifted for a while to give some views. Winds however remained very strong all day. While the amount of fresh snow was limited there was significant drifting throughout the day. The old snowpack has refrozen and is very firm. There is a thin layer of new snow in most locations. Where this has drifted into wind sheltered locations, deposits of fresh windslab are forming. Tomorrow will bring a return to thaw conditions,  shallow wet snow instabilities will develop in recent windslab deposits but will soon stabilise as the day progresses.
