Ptarmigan

2nd March 2023

The settled weather continues although it was more cloudy today. The snowpack remains stable in all locations and is mostly very firm, with only the lowest patches softening slightly today.

Four ptarmigan near the summit of Meall a’ Bhuiridh weren’t being too shy.

The male ptarmigan with a red eye patch…

Two ptarmigan still reasonably well camouflaged despite the limited snow cover.

The same 2 ptarmigan are more obvious here.

Ice forming on hillsides and paths.

Rime from recent North-Easterly winds.

Glencoe Mountain taking the chance to do some maintenance on the access chair while the snow cover is limited.
