Damp

28th February 2024

A damp and misty day, with low cloud and light rain this morning, drier this afternoon with patchy drizzle. Strong to gale force South-West winds all day with the freezing level above the summits. The snowpack was thawing and diminishing at all levels in the milder conditions, though above 850m instabilities remained in deeper accumulations which were on North to East aspects above 850 metres.

Turning wintery overnight and through tomorrow with fresh snow and gale to storm force South-West winds. Unstable windslab reforming (see full report for details).

Misty views down the glen for the whole day.

Diminishing snow cover on Buchaille Etive Mor.

Typical cover on North-East aspects above 850 metres on Meall a Bhuiridh.

Not quite seeing the crags and buttresses of Stob Coire nan Lochan.
